Waiting periods for Anthem 2-50 Employee Group Health Insurance
Anthem allows a new group to choose one the following waiting periods.
- 1st of the month following ___days* of continuous employment
- 1st of the month following date of hire
- Date of hire
- Effective after ___days* of continuous employment
They also allow a group to have odd effective dates.
- You may pick any date of the month to have your insurance made effective
To add a dependent
- On the first day of the month following marriage, if the special enrollment period is due to marriage.
- On the date of birth of the newborn, if the special enrollment period is due to the birth of a child.
- On the date or adoption or date of placement for adoption, if the special enrollment period is due to adoption or placement for adoption.
*Employer chooses the number of days in the waiting period. You may choose once during the year to change the waiting period for new hires but any additional change for new hires can only be done on the group renewal date.
